Jessica’s View Counts

Hold on to your hat, The View wants Jessica’s view! Jessica Simpson will sit in for Elisabeth Hasselbeck on The View when Elisabeth goes on maternity leave (Hasselbeck’s last day is Tuesday, Oct. 23rd). Reality TV’s “Is this chicken or tuna fish?” girl has been asked to join ABC’s think tank on November 8th and during sweeps.

I can’t even imagine what the producers (Babara Walters?) had in mind unless they simply want to change the now boring format from semi-serious to slap-stick comedy. Can you see the double-takes Whoopi gives Simpson for her Simple-Simon take on politics, current events, and global warming?

So far, Jessica Simpson has tanked on every project she’s taken up since the demise of The Newlyweds. On the other hand, I can see this as being a great ratings booster for The View—playing up Jessie’s “Gracie Allen” quality and giving it a run for its money. Let the laughter begin. This might work after all. Stay tuned.
